Events in school

During the school year we enjoy at least two performances by professional musicians.  In the last year this included

  • Hannabiele and the Ladies of Midnight Blue – drumming, brass and fantastic audience interaction
  • a salsa dance performance and workshop
  • a samba performance and workshop
  • and a memorable outdoor performance to school, friends and family from the New York Brass Band.

We aim to present as wide a range of musical and cultural styles as we can, and can be completely confident that all will be given a respectful and appreciative reception from the whole school.

In addition to this we had a fantastic performance of The Railway Children from M and M touring productions, who are returning this year with their version of Pinocchio.

We celebrated Chinese New Year with the help of Mr Lee, a Chinese artist, and with his help pupils produced some beautiful displays and artefacts including lanterns, Chinese dragons, and folded paper work.

Our Latin American week, including the Samba and Salso mentioned above, included workshops and visits to link with the Vamos! Festival in Newcastle and families were also signposted to further festival events.

We are very appreciative of the hard work staff put in to make all these things happen.

This year we look forward to an equally exciting and stimulating programme and will by looking for events with a science theme to complement our curriculum focus for the year.
