In Primary Humanities is taught as part of a topic-based curriculum following guidance from the International Primary Curriculum. We work on a 3 year rolling programme to ensure depth and breadth of coverage. All topic areas are mapped against the National Curriculum to ensure all learning goals are met.
Geography is taught by the class teacher in the Primary Department then by teachers who have specialised in this subject. In KS3 it is taught half termly and is offered as an option for KS 4 students. Geography is taught in a fun and purposeful way with students encouraged to ask questions then seek answers using a range of skills including critical thinking.
In Secondary Geography is taught alternate half terms and follow National Standards. Federation Staff within the humanities departments have worked collaboratively work to produce a curriculum that can be shared between students. In Geography key aspects of study incorporate human and physical elements and how mankind interacts with the natural world.
