We regard homework as a means of enhancing the work we do in school with pupils, and an opportunity for parents to be involved.

Parents tell us that for many of our pupils, at their previous schools, homework was a real problem and a source of stress for pupils and their families.

We do not want to add any further stress for our pupils who work very hard throughout the school day.

Teachers provide homework as they feel appropriate for their groups and classes. For the youngest pupils this is likely to be a school reader to share, and we like to offer a holiday pack for pupils to take home.

As pupils move up through school they will have the opportunity to take home work and activities which will support their learning through practice, or provide opportunities to enhance their learning through research based activities..

In addition to this our website provides a range of activities which are designed to be fun, as well as an aid to learning. You can find these in the ‘pupils’ section. You will also find information about websites supporting reading in the ‘About us / Curriculum’ section.

If you have any problems with homework support, or would like to discuss how to help your child at home, please do not hesitate to contact your childs’ teacher or ask us about it at the next parents’ evening.

There are no sanctions regarding uncompleted homework, but pupils completing homework are rewarded with merits.

A final request – If your child does bring a reading book home from school, please ensure books come back into school promptly. Thank you.
