As part of the Vocational studies qualification, some of our year 11s had to demonstrate their new skills of being able to assemble fishing equipment safely, cast correctly & land a fish.
This was our second visit to Derwent Reservoir and just like last week, we all had a reel-y good time.
All of the pupils should be extremely proud of themselves for how quickly they learnt and demonstrated their new skills.
This week was very different to last week as the pupils managed to catch 6 fish and successfully land 4. They all rallied round to support each other once the fish was on the line, to make sure the fish was landed and unhooked from the line correctly. The fish that they caught were Rainbow Trout and some of the pupils even took them home with them.
Our last fishing trip with these pupils has definitely been a one to remember.
Always remember “Any fin is possible, be strong and don’t trout yourself!”
