When P3 arrived in class today Ronnie Robot was waiting with two more challenges.
Today’s challenge was to create a puppet show using our puppets we made. We had to work as a team to create a story.
P3 then performed their stories for each other.
The boys and girls are very excited for Wednesdays maths challenge!
What an amazing start to our new topic in P5. We watched a clip from Wallace and Gromit’s Cracking Contraptions and thought about the amazing inventions we use everyday. We were then inspired to think of our own ideas for new inventions. We had some great suggestions such as flying police cars, robots which could make ice cream and even a money making machine! After we designed our inventions, we then thought about the resources we needed and started building. We needed to make some improvements along the way, but when we were finished we were given the chance to present our new inventions in the Dragon’s Den. Some of the dragons were quite scary, especially Patchy the dog! In English, we wrote explanations as to how our inventions worked. We all agreed it was a brilliant start to the new term. Well done P5!
Today Ronnie Robot arrived in P3.
The Toy Maker had sent him with an art challenge to complete.
We used different types of paper to collage a picture of the main characters in our stories.
Robot Winnie
Iron Man
P3 can’t wait for their next challenge on Monday!
P2 have had an amazing time this week. We have researched different types of puppet then made our own. In small groups, children have written and produced their own puppet shows.
Video footage to follow.
Miss Newton and Miss Veevers have been busy over the Easter holidays.
We decided to create a mural on the main wall in the yard with geometric patterns and shapes using the school’s signature colours. We had lots of fun making it and hope everyone enjoys it.
Again, a group of Y10 students walked down to the local care home to volunteer and help the residents and staff with activities. We are so very proud of our students. The manager of the care home made them all certificates to thank them and even invited them to stay for lunch. She told me on the phone that they are the most polite and well mannered children she has ever come across and a credit to the school. They will hopefully be volunteering here each week, I think the care home would love them to come every day, they have even been invited to one of the residents birthday parties!
P 10 visited Consett Police Station and Custody Suite today. They were given a tour and had opportunities to use the breathalyser machine, experience a stay in the cells, experience booking in and take a look around a police van.
P3 next term will be focusing on the following texts.
We have lots of exciting activities planned from going on adventures with the Iron Giant and Winnie and Wilbur to designing and creating our own robots.
Enjoy the rest of the Easter Holidays!
