Mindful wishes to you all x
As you will probably be aware there is much focus at the moment on supporting each-others mental health and wellbeing during this difficult time.
One term that is very trendy is Mindfulness. Mindfulness is a word that has come to be used to describe everything from yoga exercises to colouring activities. It can be hard to find a simple way to explain it, especially to children and young people.
To help you understand the value we place on mindfulness at Croft I have prepared some information on how to explain mindfulness to children and teenagers, how mindfulness ‘works’, what the goal of mindfulness practice is, Good things mindfulness can bring to your life and of course a gentle word of caution. These are attached to this blog.
I am most grateful to have had the opportunity to become a qualified teacher of mindfulness and through the Friends of Croft Community School the support to support Croft towards becoming a ‘mindful’ school. As we are at present in very ‘different’ times I thought that you may all appreciate an introduction to mindful practice in the same form that we will teach mindfulness at Croft and the opportunity to develop your own mindful practice at home.
From this coming week, you will continue to have available the ‘noticing nature’ mindfulness activities that we post on facebook and the school websites blog. We will also continue to post up all of your reflections, thoughts and photos from each weekly challenge.
In addition, we will also post some simple ideas, activities and tasks to make each day a little more ‘mindful’.
Once back at school you will be invited to take part in an ‘introduction to mindfulness’ to give you a flavour of how we hope to work towards becoming a more ‘present’ and ‘mindful’ community at Croft. You are very welcome to join us.
For now, watch out on the school facebook page for the ‘mindfulness updates’ and visit the school blog to access the weekly resources, hints, tips and practices. For a starter I have uploaded a sensory mindfulness activity based on washing our hands.
With big friendliness, Dawn x

Each week you will find here on the blog a science activity that you can do to have a little fun with science. We will post the activity on facebook too for you to download, print and do.
Send some pictures of your completed challenge to me and we will upload them all onto the blog for you all to see.

Charlie’s creative juices were flowing last week when he wrote his Haunted Manor story………..
The old manor that was sitting on top of the great hill with the surrounding covered in all kinds of plants and trees of all different shapes and sizes. With the windows covered in vines ad had decaying parts of the wall. The tiles on the roof where falling of and part of the roof had collapsed down and getting into the near vicinity of the manor a chill would fill the air and a dark fog would roll in and the trees would look dead but continuing forward would mean certain despair for the rest of there life. Inside is not much better as soon as you enter a stench worse then death begins to rise from some ware in the building but the rest of the inside has been covered in moss and other plants and with the part of the roof that’s open a tree is growing from the sunlight poring down and all of the tables chars and other things has been all turned over and an uneasy feeling sits in the air never rising or going away and the faint sound of speech always staying at the same volume no matter ware you are and the old planks hanging from the hole in the roof occasionally falling of and hitting the floor with a loud crash and each day the plant life grows even more but the creepiness never goes away.
Nice work Charlie!
